February 2013.

I love the songs from “Les Miserables” – and the new film version of the musical has rekindled my admiration for this work. Victor Hugo himself said “music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent” and the creators, Alain Boubil, Claude-Michel Schonberg and lyricist Herbert Kretzmer produced a very powerful and emotional masterpiece which never fails to move me.

The performances in the film are exceptional and I recently tried a few sketches of some of the characters. Here is the first version of Anne Hathaway as “Fantine” who, according to Victor Hugo, “has known everything, borne and suffered everything and shed her last tear”.

I have also just heard from La Galleria that “Go Leave” (see People Gallery) has been sold.
