I am now frantically preparing for a Summer Group Exhibition which takes place at the La Galleria (www.lagalleria.org) and the Royal Opera Arcade Gallery (www.roa-galleria.com) in Pall Mall from the 17th to the 29th of August. The show has an international flavour and selected artists from the UK, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland, Singapore, and Sweden will also be taking part.
The first is Camille O’Sullivan, a multi-talented cabaret singer who, although not a major celebrity in this country, has sold out large concert venues throughout the world, and is someone whom I greatly admire . She overcame a horrendous car accident in which she broke many of her bones, changed an already promising career and is now a successful and charismatic performer.
The second is a professional model and the third is Michelle Stephenson who was originally in the girl band that went on to become “The Spice Girls”; she was eventually replaced by Emma Bunton. Michelle was at university when selected for the band and the reasons why she left aren’t entirely clear but, according to her, she was not happy with the kind of music they were performing.
I am also showing another work which has a musical connection:-
This landscape “Near Port Venere, Italy” was inspired by a song “Silence and Tears” by Galley Beggar (see last post) which are words from a poem by Lord Byron “When We Two Were Parted“. Byron spent part of his life in Italy and he often spent time at this location while he was there.
