December Blog – Centrepieces and Christmas

At the end of November and into the early part of December Centrepieces, a nearby charity and arts project set up to support those who have suffered with mental health problems, has had a Christmas sale and auction of artworks. The have also celebrated their 20th Anniversary this year and have so far managed to raise over £2,600 towards the funding of their activities in the sale and auction. It’s lovely to hear that they managed to sell all six of the small works that I handed over as donations during this period and hope that whoever bought them is able to enjoy my contribution towards their efforts. I’ve posted a series of photos to give some idea of the variety of works on display.

I wish everyone a very happy New Year, particularly those who are suffering, lonely or living in other difficult circumstances. I can’t find words to express my feelings about many of the developments happening recently in today’s society in this country and other parts of the world but I hope that love, peace and much greater harmony will prevail in 2020 and the coming years. As I grow older and continue to study history it seems that although humans are gaining more knowledge, scientific and technical skills we are still making the same mistakes in virtually every sphere of our existence on this beautiful planet.

It’s increasingly difficult to decide which information we receive from all media sources is true, accurate and objectively reported these days. I like to see the good in my fellow human beings rather than their flaws and that maybe in the future the power of music and art will help us all to communicate with and understand each other just a little bit better.
