In the last few weeks Christine has asked me to go back to producing a few traditional landscapes and seascapes in a fairly orthodox style so here are my efforts on her behalf.
The source of the painting is a photo taken by Christine when we stayed in Geneva for a few days before moving on by train to the South of France. Whilst we were in Geneva we had the benefit of free travel on all forms of transport in the city resulting from a special deal we had with our hotel, one of which was an hour long boat trip on the lake. Most of the sight- seeing was, however, done on foot and resulted in finding some of the most beautiful parks and buildings.
Almost as soon as the Mont Blanc landscape was completed I started another work as a memory of one of the early holidays we had when our children were young on the Gower peninsula in South Wales at Caswell Bay where we stayed right on the seafront. We had a wonderful two weeks self-catering holiday in spacious flats overlooking the beach with a view which looked something like this.
I’m still trying to make constructive use of my time and reviewing early works and doing some re-working where necessary. Here’s one of a pair as it is at the moment which I’ll show again when the repainting is finished, probably in my next blog.
Finally, we are all very much aware of the effect the pandemic is having on the mental health of so many people who are anxious, lonely, stressed and really worried about what the future holds. Unemployment is rising, jobs are at risk and almost every announcement in the media has negativity associated with it and all of us are searching for the truth. Coupled with Christine’s request to produce traditional landscapes and seascapes I’ve also decided to show paintings which are calm, soothing and re-assuring so here’s the first in a series of such paintings which concludes this months blog. I like to have a quiet time every day in the early morning when I can meditate and breathe slowly and deeply; this works wonders and coupled with sensible exercise shortly after, say 40 minutes walking, helps to refresh, raise my spirit and energise me. I hope this picture is helpful too.
